Housing Disrepair

We specialise in housing disrepair

We specialise in housing disrepair, and have developed a unique method exclusively for registered housing providers, social landlords, and legal firms representing landlords or tenants, to effectively respond to and resolve housing disrepair. We are highly qualified and accredited, but it is our decades of  practical experience spanning the breadth of the property, construction and housing industry that gives us our  edge.

Our years of award-winning practice in the commercial, private and social housing sub-sectors span operational, strategic and Board level. This means we have experience of dealing with disrepair on the ground, managing asset and disrepair strategy and policy at tactical level, and overseeing and steering organisations at senior leadership and Board level. Through our extensive and direct experience in the sector, including small, medium, large and G15 Housing Associations, we have a deep understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements, reputational risks and media scrutiny, financial pressures, the impact poor housing conditions have on tenants and their families, and all the modern day challenges arising from disrepair and asset management.

There have been nearly 17,000 disrepair claims in the past five years, with more than £55.1m paid out. Legal costs nearly doubled, while the number of cases increased by 132%

Because at the heart of this, no matter which side of the fence you’re on, if you’re a tenant you want to live in a property that’s fit for habitation.

Our unique model is made up of nine steps, tools and measures, which are combined to strengthen the response to disrepair cases and legal claims, de-escalate or stop cases in their tracks and all-importantly ensure homes are in a good condition and compliant and safe for residents.

Housing Disrepair Portfolio

We have carried out hundreds of housing disrepair surveys and expert witness reports on behalf of registered providers and legal firms representing landlords and tenants. Take a look at a few examples in our portfolio, or get in touch to have a chat with us about our experience and how we can help you.

Understandably, landlords and tenants do not always want to promote their experiences with disrepair, or speak publicly on matters of litigation. Out of respect for our clients’ privacy, we have taken care not to make any parties identifiable through our real-life case studies, including showing any photos of featured homes or buildings.
